Equipped with six newly supplied SUPER 2100‑2 pavers, construction company Julius Berger PLC, the Nigerian subsidiary of international player Bilfinger Berger AG, Germany, has carried off a number of large-scale infrastructure projects. For instance, the new VÖGELE machines built new highways around the provincial capital Uyo. They also completed infrastructure projects in the capital city Abuja and in the metropolis Lagos. The paving teams of contractor Julius Berger PLC were thrilled with their new machines, especially the impressive paving results.
Two service engineers from VÖGELE accompanied the delivery of the new SUPER 2100‑2 pavers, handing over the machines and also training the teams of Julius Berger PLC. This was the first experience the Nigerian-based teams had ever had with VÖGELE pavers, but, thanks to the intuitive and symbol-based operating concept, they quickly got to grips with the machines and ErgoPlus® soon acquired a whole new fan base in Nigeria, too.
20 and 25km long projects to mark the start
After learning the ins and outs of the machine technology, the contractor’s paving teams and their new machines were quickly tasked with two large-scale infrastructure projects. The two construction jobs in the provincial capital Uyo involved rehabilitating a 20km stretch of highway. In this project, the excellent rigidity of the AB 600‑2 Extending Screed was highly commended. Another project involved the building of a major arterial road in Uyo. This 25km job site saw the SUPER 2100‑2 pavers operating “hot to hot” for the first time. A high-degree of paving precision was achieved thanks to VÖGELE's high-tech solutions, with Big MultiPlex Skis handling grade and slope control.
