One of the first Italian contractors to express interest in the wheeled SUPER 1303-2 paver was Messrs. Padana Strade with headquarters in Cremona. The Lombardian town is famous throughout the world as the traditional home of violin makers, especially Stradivari. The paving team used the SUPER 1303-2 for placing 3cm wearing course on a job site in the harbour of the river Po in Cremona. Although the area to be paved was relatively small, the job turned out to be tricky, as it was in the midst of the harbour sidings. The paver’s task was to place asphalt flush with the railway lines. On this job, the paving team benefited not only from the paver’s outstanding manoeuvrability based on a small turning radius of just 4.8m (outside), but also from easy operation of NIVELTRONIC® Plus, the System for Automated Grade and Slope Control.

Travelling at a quick 20km/h

The paver effortlessly pushed the feed lorry ahead of it while paving and also demonstrated its high mobility when travelling from one point on the job site to another at a speed of 20km/h. Gian Luca Minardi, the Director General of Padana Strade, was highly impressed by the newcomer: “The SUPER 1303-2 furnished ample proof that it is perfectly suited to the kind of jobs we usually deal with. The majority of our jobs are inner town applications requiring frequent moves of the paver. Speed and easy handling have a crucial effect on cost-efficiency and the SUPER 1303-2 fulfils both these conditions perfectly.”
