Above all on airport sites, time is a critical factor. The faster a job needs to be completed, the smoother aviation operations can proceed. The time saved on reconstruction of the runway at Zweibrücken Airport was particularly impressive.

November 2009 - VÖGELE Paver Achieves Maximum Precompaction

Well-founded know-how is also needed for highly cost-effective and high-quality paving of Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC). This has been demonstrated in Indianapolis, USA, where RCC and asphalt were paved using the combination of SUPER 2100-2 paver and AB 600 High Compaction Screed in TP2 version.

When reconstructing a 5km stretch of the A 61 motorway in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, a SUPER 2100-2 paved two new lanes including hard shoulder in full-road width.

October 2007 - 10 VÖGELE Pavers Build a 90km Stretch on Europe’s Largest Road Construction Site

Poland’s A1 motorway currently represents the largest road construction project in Europe. RoadNews first reported on this project in Issue 09, when asphalt works had just begun. Great progress has since been made on the first 90km long stretch of the motorway.

April 2007 - Night Shift at the Airport

Four SUPER pavers rehabilitated the runway at Brussels Charleroi Airport, Belgium. The 20-year-old asphalt pavement was successively repaired over a period of several nights.

February 2007 - WIRTGEN Group Power for Europe's Largest Road Building Project

Since mid-2006, Skanska-NDI, a Swedish-Polish joint venture, has been undertaking construction of the first 90km stretch of a motorway that will traverse the whole of Poland in just a couple of years. This is the largest road construction project currently underway in Europe.
